The background to EPPP Blog

The aim of this blog is to act as an information resource for football supporters. Despite the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) being announced in October 2011, there remains a distinct lack of information available.  Moreover, there has been almost no criticism of the scheme and consequently a lack of debate over whether or not a) it is a good idea and b) whether the process that saw the Football League agree to it was fair and proper.  It is my belief that had there been more information available and more opinions/criticisms given, major uproar amongst communities of football supporters may have ensued.  The prospect of a club academy developing a player for a number of years so they are on the verge of a major breakthrough and then losing them for a fee they have no ability to negotiate on seems radically unfair.  Is it really as simple as this or are smaller clubs gaining major benefits from the EPPP?  This blog will to gather as much information as possible to explain exactly what the EPPP is, what is hopes to achieve and who it affects both positively and negatively.
